Vice President & Deputy General Counsel
Katharine Saunders is Vice President & Deputy General Counsel at Verizon, where she leads a cross-functional team responsible for the development and implementation of regulatory strategy and advocacy to advance Verizon’s nationwide broadband buildout, network modernization, and related efforts. She also has extensive experience representing the company in regulatory and legal matters before the FCC, other federal agencies, and in the courts. Prior to joining Verizon, she had an active civil litigation and IP trial practice with a major law firm.
Her team’s current priority is leading Verizon’s nationwide network transformation and modernization programs. As part of this work, she manages Verizon’s advocacy, strategy, and bidding related to Verizon’s participation in broadband deployment grants, including through the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Act.
She is passionate about pro bono work and is an appointed Guardian ad Litem in the D.C. courts, serves on several non-profit boards, and is the current President of the Board of Woolly Mammoth Theatre. A former collegiate varsity athlete, she is also a founding board member of The SportsBra Project, a non-profit working to remove barriers to participation in sport.
